Black Marrow 2009

3

Set in a dark place where civilisation had not quite arrived, or had ceased to exist long ago, Black Marrow explored extremes and opposite states, searching for the more undefined aspects of human identity. A work of stunning visual accomplishment, it featured dancers rendered almost unrecognisable as human, melting into the primordial soup of a swirling black hole of a set. Created by Erna Omarsdottir and Damien Jalet, part of the new generation of Europe’s highly physical and visceral choreographers, Black Marrow drew together an extraordinary group of Australian and international performers and artists to create a skilfully crafted work of electrifying potency.
