Mix Tape 2010
Stephanie Lake's Mix Tape was a dance work about love. Driven by an eclectic and personal set of songs as well as recorded interviews, it cleverly illuminated experiences of regret, desire, ecstasy and disillusionment. Mix Tape revealed both the sublime and mundane facets of love in daily life - how we choose each other and the substance of our attraction. Mix Tape was Chunky Move’s third production commissioned and presented as part of the Next Move program, and had a highly successful sold-out premiere season as well as winning two Green Room Awards.

“Choreographer Stephanie Lake has created an impressive, poundingly vital elegy to the vicissitudes of love in her first full length dance work. Mix Tape currently in premier performance at Melbourne’s Chunky Move Studio. Although this is her first major work, Lake is well known to dance audiences through her prior success as a dancer with Lucy Guerin, BallletLab and Chunky Move, and more recently, as a teacher at VCA.” Artshub.
