gentle is the power 2014

Choreographed by Chunky Move Artistic Director Anouk van Dijk, gentle is the power was an exploration of contained power. Created specifically for, and with, dancers James Vu Anh Pham and Niharika Senapati, gentle is the power merged Van Dijk’s physically challenging movement language with Pham and Senapati’s refined virtuosity. Gentle is the power was first performed at the Brisbane SOLO Festival of Dance (2014) by James Vu Anh Pham, then as a duo Niharika Senapati as part of the SummerSalt Outdoor Arts Festival in Southbank (2015).

In 2015 gentle is the power toured to Singapore as part of M1 CONTACT Contemporary Dance Festival. Chunky Move’s participation in the festival was supported by the Australian Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
