All The Better to Eat You With 1999
All The Better to Eat You With was originally presented as part of a double-bill, Bodyparts, with Lucy Guerin’s Zero. Obarzanek took the centuries-old fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood as a starting point to create a fractured world of childish thoughts mishandled by adult terrors. His intention was “to create a beautiful, but psychotic work that’s very physical and highly sensual...” The result explored the complexities of power and abuse that lay beneath a familiar fairytale, and was part Surrealist tea party, part serial-killer pantomime.
