Hey Mum! Watch This…

… those words always seem to end in disaster. Which was exactly what happened when dancer Luke Smiles suffered an accident involving a skateboard that put him in a tricky spot both physically and financially. A founding member of Chunky Move, Luke is no stranger to injury with his first costing him the opening of Bonehead in 1997.

The Hey Mum! Watch This… benefit was held at Chunky Move in 2006 and raised enough funds to cover the medical and rehabilitation costs needed to, thankfully, get Luke back up and dancing again.

Hey Mum! watch this… those words always seem to end in disaster.  Whether it be a running jump into the sandpit or some awesome BMX stunt, as soon as those words were spoken it was all over.  Although my Mum wasn’t present at the skate park that night it seems unfortunately appropriate for the worst slam I’ve ever had.

There’s surely no way I can thank you all enough for the effort and support you’ve given me. The benefit gig was an incredible and overwhelming night. Sometimes it’s hard to know what to do when you realise the amount of love and friendship around you. Through your commitment we raised enough money to completely cover the medical costs so far and have cash to spare for further rehabilitation.  So I thank you all so much, and look forward to getting back up on stage as soon as I can. I’d be cactus without ya’s.

Cheers,

Luke Smiles
