Melbourne Fashion Festival, then and now

Shot and edited by Eva Otsing

Chunky Move’s first contribution to Melbourne’s iconic fashion festival, BODYPARTS was heralded as a taste of indoor hardcore dance. Premiering at the then-named Woolmark Melbourne Fashion Festival, 22 years ago, BODYPARTS featured a pret-a-porter collection of works from choreographers Gideon Obarzanek and Lucy Guerin. Read the (somewhat cynical) review, and find our inclusion in the Woolmark Melbourne Festival program below.

In 2020, Chunky Move teamed up with fashion label Romance Was Born for a very special performance as part of the-now Melbourne Fashion Festival’s Nocturnal x Fashion. Through Antony Hamilton’s choreography, dancers exploited the range of the collection, inspired by artist Samuel Hodge's work for SS20, titled The Golden Promise.
